September 21, 1988 - April 11, 2008
Jacqueline Jean "Jackie" McKerac, 19, of N8504 Linden Beach Road, Fond du Lac, died on Friday, April 11, 2008, at Children's Hospital in Milwaukee. She was born on Sept. 21, 1988, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Jerry J. and Pamela J. McKerac (Vassil). She graduated from Fond du Lac High School in 2007. She was a member of Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church of Fond du Lac.
Those who knew her will always remember her smile, a smile that found its way through the many medical battles that she fought. Jackie had a living lung transplant on May 28, 2002. She took every opportunity to enjoy life whether she was picking pumpkins in autumn, trimming the Christmas tree, playing outside with her nephew in spring or spending time with friends during summer vacation. Each day that passed represented another petal on her flower of life and each season was a victory for Jackie. She enjoyed spending time with her brother, Dan, and his son, Luke. She enjoyed traveling with her parents. She liked large family gatherings that brought everyone together to talk, to listen to music and to enact the many traditions created together. Jackie was the laughter and light, the focus and the joy, the love and the bow that brought her family together. Jackie will live on each day in the lives of all the people she touched as they dwell on the memory of a young woman who never gave up.
Jackie is survived by her parents, Jerry and Pamela McKerac of Fond du Lac; her five brothers, Danny McKerac and his son, Luke, Mark Moreno (Gabriela) and their children Isabella and "Little" Mark of Pewaukee, Eric Czerwinski (Mindy) and his children, Austin, Troy, Dominic, Madalynne, and Emma of Milwaukee, Michael Brunke (Melissa) and their son, Samuel, of Fond du Lac, and Matthew (Kelly) Brunke of Fond du Lac; her grandparents, Eleanor Czerwinski of Milwaukee, and Paul and Jean Vassil of Fond du Lac; godparents, Peter Vassil and Marion Makowsky of Fond du Lac; great uncle and aunt, Kenneth and Marion Makowsky of Fond du Lac; aunts and. uncles, Paul, Peter, Dennis, Jeff, Mike, Sandy, Linda, David and Karen, her close cousin, Kristy Vassil of Milwaukee; best friend, Jill Schmitz of Fond du Lac; and other friends, all of whom stayed close at hand to support her through the high and low times that come with medical hurdles.
