Alvin A. Zabel

Alvin A. Zabel, 80, formerly of Brandon, died Monday, January 23, 2012, at the Markesan Resident Home where he had been a resident for the past four years. He was born May 20, 1931, in Fairwater, the son of Albert E. and Olga Schroeder Zabel. On December 10, 1955, he married Darlene Schneider in Fond du Lac. For many years, Alvin was employed by Sterling Custom Homes and later retired from Combination Door Company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and wood working, and listening to polka and bluegrass music.
Surviving are his wife, Darlene, of Brandon, five sons and one daughter, Alex and his wife Ann from Brandon, Richard and his wife Kathy from Eldorado, Edward and his wife, Lori from Shakopee, MN, Mike and his friend Mary from Marquette, WI, Bruce and his wife Heidi from Fond du Lac, and Ellen (Zabel) Allard and her husband, Robb, from Darboy, 19 grandchildren, and three great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister, and an infant sister.
Funeral Information
Visitation for Alvin A. Zabel will be on Saturday, January 28, 2012, from 10 AM to 2 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Avenue, Fond du Lac. Funeral services will be at 2 PM at the funeral home. Pastor Brent Balken will officiate and burial will be in the Rogersville Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Alvin’s name.
