Melvin U. Sandstrom, 64, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born the son of Richard E. and Frieda L. Urban Sandstrom, on April 14, 1945 in Watertown, WI. On June 4, 1966 he married Peggy S. Dowdy in Colorado Springs, CO. Melvin was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked many years for Mercury Marine as a Systems Analyst. He later worked as a bartender, retiring in 2008. Melvin was a member of Eagles Aerie #270 and enjoyed playing cards, bowling and loved to golf.
SURVIVORS: one son, Richard Sandstrom, Fond du Lac; two daughters, Susan (David) Mosher, Culpeper, VA, Tiffany Mueller, Fond du Lac; six grandchildren, Cassie, Kory, Jazmine, Eathon, Sydney, and Radley; his former wife, Peggy Sandstrom, Green Bay, WI; one sister, Belva (Lawrence) Rupnow, Juneau, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Calvin Sandstrom.
Funeral Information
VISITATION: will be from 9 AM – 12 Noon on Monday, March 8, 2010 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, March 8, 2010 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Schrankler officiating. Cremation will follow the traditional services.
