Roger K. Orvis, 83, of Rosendale, died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at home with his family beside him after a year and half battle with colon cancer. He was born June 9, 1928, in Oakfield, the son of Roger and Retta Towne Orvis. On November 11, 1961 he married Bernice Nemitz at St. John's Catholic Church in Woodhull. She preceded him in death on December 16, 1999. Roger was a farmer all of his life in the Rogersville area. He also worked for Hall Feed and Fuel in Eldorado until it changed to Wayne Feed Supply, which he then was the manager. In 1981 he and Bernice had the opportunity to purchase the feed mill and then owned and operated it until 1994. Roger was also a charter member of the Eldorado Lions Club and helped numerous years in the ticket stand for the Eldorado picnic. He also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, polka dancing in his younger years and was known to many as a kind, generous man. Funeral InformationVisitation will be held on Sunday January 29, 2012 from 3 to 7 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and on Monday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Funeral Services : A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Church-Holy Family Parish. Burial will be at Rosendale Cemetery. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
