H. Robert "Bob" Marcoe

H. Robert “Bob” Marcoe, 87, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at the Hospice Home of Hope after a brief illness. He was born May 14, 1925, in Milwaukee, the son of Harold J. and Rozella DeBoth Marcoe. Bob was a 1943 graduate of Goodrich High School. On September 11, 1954, he married Joan M. Schmidt at St. Joseph’s Church in Fond du Lac. He went into business with his father in 1943 at Marcoe Insurance Agency, now known as Marcoe Tax Services. He retired in 2010. Bob was very active in the Boy Scouts of America and was honored with many awards and certificates throughout his adult life, including the St. George Award. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and chairman of his class of 1943 reunion committee. Bob enjoyed his workshop, fishing, and cribbage at every lunch hour, including during tax time. Living on the lake, he never missed the sunsets. He was always involved in the St. Joseph’s parish festival when it was held on the church grounds. Bob loved his children’s and grandchildren’s band concerts, sporting events, and their achievements. He was a member of Holy Family Parish.
Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Joan, four daughters, Karen (Patrick) Murphy of Mequon, WI, Kate (Rick) Darpel of Cincinnati, OH, Kris Marcoe and Kelley (Chad) Benson both of Fond du Lac, and two sons, Tom (Pam) Marcoe and Tim (Lori) Marcoe, both of Fond du Lac, nine grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter, a sister, Beverly Pitchford of Fond du Lac, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John (Alice) Marcoe, a brother-in-law, James Pitchford, his mother and father-in-law, Frank and Mary Schmidt, a brother-in-law, Arthur Schmidt, and a sister-in-law, Catherine Vera Schmidt.
Funeral Information
Visitation for H. Robert “Bob”Marcoe will be on Thursday, July 19, 2012, from 4 to 8 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and again from 9:00 to 9:45 AM on Friday, July 20th at the funeral home. Family prayers will be at 9:45 AM on Friday, July 20, 2012 at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 678 Western Avenue, Fond du Lac. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Bob’s name. Additional information and guest book may be found at www.ueckerwitt.com
