Gerald M. Langenfeld

November 9, 1924 — August 11, 2017

Gerald M. Langenfeld, 92, of Eldorado, died Friday, August 11, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 9, 1924 in Earling, IA a son of Christ and Eleanor Casper Langenfeld. The family moved back to the Fond du Lac area where Gerald attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Grade School and graduated from Fond du Lac (Goodrich) High School.



Gerald served in the US Navy from 1943-1945. On September 10, 1949 he married Gladys E. Sabel at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Brandon, WI. Gerald farmed his entire life. He served on the Town of Eldorado Board as Assessor and later as Town Chairman. He served as a trustee at St. Mary’s Catholic Mission Church. Gerald served on the Rosendale Mutual Insurance Board of Directors. Gerald was a member of St. Raphels’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh.



Gerald is survived by his five children, Thomas (Sue) Langenfeld, Richard (Cheryl) Langenfeld all of Eldorado, Robert (Geri) Langenfeld of Oshkosh, Judith (Dave) Schani of Austin, Texas, and Mary (Vance) Henning of Brandon; twelve grandchildren, Christopher (Nancy) Langenfeld of Pickett, Andrew (Andrea) Langenfeld, Leslie (Chad) Malnory, Elizabeth (Scott) Krings, Amber Langenfeld all of Oshkosh, Chad (Astra) Langenfeld, Timothy (Nicole) Langenfeld all of Eldorado, Jennifer Kind of Cottage Grove, Vance Henning Jr. of Fond du Lac, Cassie (Ron) Kruezinger of Alto, Michael (Kelli) Jacobs of Baraboo, and Joshua (Becca) Langenfeld of Waukesha; twenty six great-grandchildren; brothers, Joseph (Elna) Markert of Gainsville, GA, John (Vernie) Markert of Malone; sister, Delores Cody; brothers-in-law, Donald (Lois) Sabel and Gordan (Inez) Sabel; sisters-in-law, Marie (Lawrence) Kraus, Agnes Perry, Nora Sabel, Myrtle Sabel, Ardis Sabel, and Gloria Langenfeld; many nieces, nephews and his faithful companion, Miley. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Gladys; his parents; stepfather, John Markert Sr.; mother and father-in-law, Ben and Marcella Sabel; brothers, James Langenfeld, Eddie Markert, Kenny Markert, and Ralph Markert; sisters, Ruby Marcoe and Gertrude Sharatt; sister-in-law, Val Markert; and brothers-in-law, Roger Sharatt and Tom Cody; and brothers and sisters-in-laws on his wife’s side.



The Christian Burial was held at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Fond du Lac on August 14, 2017 with Rev. Tom Long officiating.
