Gladys L. Lamers

November 19, 1919 — February 19, 2017

Gladys L. Lamers, 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. She was born in Milwaukee on November 19, 1919, a daughter of Erwin and Emma (Knepper) Equitz. On July 17, 1972, she married Roman Lamers in Racine. He preceded her in death on December 9, 2006.



Gladys was always giving and helping others. She was a member of the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, St. Monica’s Guild, worker of St. Paul’s Cathedral Mouse Factory, Associate of The Sisters of the Holy Nativity, Auxiliary member of both the VFW Bohlman-Grimes Post #1904 and the American Legion Trier-Puddy Post #75. She was also a member of Hospice Hope and Broken Bread. Gladys crocheted hundreds of hats for hospitals and an afghan for each newborn of St. Paul’s. She was also an avid bowler, participating in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters bowl-a-thon for over 20 years. Until the age of 93, she continued to bowl three times a week and loved every minute of it. Her smiling face will be sadly missed.



Survivors include two grandchildren, Dale (Jen) Klitzke and Rhonda (Hector) Joseph; two great-grandsons, Collin Joseph and Brandon Klitzke; two sisters, Dorothy Mueller and Betty Fleis; and two daughters-in-law, Patricia Klitzke and Betty Klitzke. She is further survived by four step-children, Larry (Beth) Lamers, Kathy (Jamesjohn “JJ”) Schuette, Phil Lamers and Linda (Gerald) Ohser; nine step-grandchildren, Stephen, Jennifer, Heather, Michael, Kimberly, Jacob, Jeff, Andrew and Richard (Deb); three step-great-grandchildren, Victoria, Kaylee and Gwynth; as well as her St. Paul’s and bowling families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roman; her son, Lee; her parents, Erwin and Emma and other siblings and family members.



Visitation for Gladys will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Cathedral of St. Paul’s in Fond du Lac from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM with the Very Reverend Fr. Edwin Smith officiating. Burial of cremains in the church cemetery will follow the service.



In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Cathedral of St. Paul’s.



The family would like to thank the staff of both St. Peter Place and Fond du Lac Lutheran Home for the wonderful care given to Gladys in previous years.
