Roy L. Butz, 92, of Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born July 27, 1924 in Fond du Lac County, the son of Frank and Amanda Holzmann Butz. On June 16, 1951 he married Gladys C. Mannenbach in Mt. Calvary and she preceded him in death on October 18, 1985. He married Roseann Vogds Adler on July 25, 1991 in Halder, WI. Roy farmed on the family farm for over 40 years and retired in 1986. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Sacred Heart Church, an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus, and a past member of the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed playing sheepshead, gardening, playing the organ, dancing, and volunteering at St. Agnes Hospital. Roy was an avid bowler throughout his life and he missed a perfect game by one pin. Known to many as the “Cookie Grandpa”, he enjoyed baking and sharing homemade cookies with family, friends, and those he visited regularly in nursing homes. Roy’s faith was very strong and it was extremely important to him to pass that on to his family.



He is survived by his wife, Roseann; his children, Thomas (Linda) Butz of Rockford, IL, Frank (Cyndi) Butz of Ocean Springs, MS, Jane (Mary Saracino) Butz of Albuquerque, NM, Sharon (Doug) Pippus of Calgary Alberta Canada, Sister Nancy Butz CSA of Kenosha, Michael (Pat) Butz of St. Cloud, Joseph (Jayne) Butz of West Bend, Mary (Kalvin Prandy) Butz of Appleton, and Roy Butz of Henderson, NV; step children, Thomas (Mary Ann) Adler of Fond du Lac, Judith (Bill) Kaufman of Fond du Lac, Carol (Tom Haak) Adler of Pooler, GA, and Terence Adler of Fond du Lac; 14 grandchildren; 23 step grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 16 step great grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings, Kenneth Butz of De Pere, Donna Frank of Fond du Lac, and Gerald (Karen) Butz of West Bend; sisters-in-law, Eleinor Butz of Coco Beach, FL and Bea Mooney of Fond du Lac; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys; sister, Olive (Clem) Simon; brothers, Donald (Joy) Butz, Gordon (Iola) Butz, and Francis Butz; brothers-in-law, Al Frank and Bob Mooney; sister-in-law, Sylvia Butz; and other relatives.



The visitation will be held from 5:30 – 8:30 PM on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Wednesday from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at the church. The Liturgy of Resurrection will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Sacred Heart Church, Fond du Lac. Inurnment will follow at St. Cloud Cemetery.



The family expresses their deep gratitude and appreciation to St. Agnes Hospital staff and volunteers for their compassionate and generous care of Roy.
