Arthur C. Sonnenberg

2013, at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home where he had been a resident since 2010. He was born December 4, 1916, in Van Dyne, the son of Fredrick and Ida Boese Sonnenberg. On February 21, 1948, he married Dorothy C. Evans in Van Dyne. She preceded him in death on December 20, 1991. Art was a farmer in the Van Dyne area for many years, and also did carpentry work. He was a diehard outdoors man. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trapping raccoons, but he loved sturgeon spearing most of all. He started spearing sturgeon the first season when it opened in 1932. Art had speared 58 sturgeons in 77 years. Besides being an outdoorsman, Art enjoyed writing and singing country music with his guitar. Surviving are nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Neil (Marcia) Sonnenberg of Fond du Lac, and his companion, Josephine Bartlett of Dundee. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers, Alfred, Leo, Earl, Fredrick, and Robert, and three sisters, Ruth, Orma, and Helen.



Visitation for Arthur C. Sonnenberg will be on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, from 4 to 7 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. Private committal services for Art will take place on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Estabrooks Cemetery.
