Barbara A. Oechsner

Barbara Ann Oechsner, 80, of Fond du Lac, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in the compassionate comfort of her home, Saturday, December 29, 2018, following a short battle with cancer, surrounded by her daughters, family, and friends. She was born June 12, 1938 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Harold and Opal Olson Pokorny.



Barbara loved fitting as many things into her schedule as time would allow. She enjoyed quilting and painting after she retired from Marsh in Milwaukee. Rosemaling was her favorite form of painting from her Norwegian heritage. Spending time with her granddaughters and great grandchildren brought her lots of joy. Barbara loved camping, concerts, garage sales, traveling, and playing cards with family and friends. She will be remembered for her fun, kind, generous, and God loving heart.



She is survived by her daughters, Cindy (John Hanrahan) Torres, Peggy Oechsner, Kathy (Dave) Rabe, and Vicky (Brian Burke) Zelen; granddaughters, Gina (Tim), Mallory, Kiley, Mackenzie, and Amy; four great granddaughters and two great grandsons; her siblings, Karen Coley, Harold (Gail) Pokory, and Wayne Pokorny; sister-in-law, Joan Pokorny; nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gregory Pokorny; brother-in-law, Gene Coley; and her dear ex-husband, Gerald Oechsner.



A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Trinity Baptist Church, 400 E. Johnson Street in Fond du Lac. A time of fellowship will follow the service.
