Bette J. Jerke

Bette J. Jerke, 80, of Fond du Lac, died Friday, August 6, 2010 at Hospice Home of Hope. She was born May 11, 1930 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Walter and Laura Hinn Petri. Bette was a 1948 graduate of St. Mary's Springs, Fond du Lac. Bette held numerous jobs since the age of 12, including; housekeeping, cooking, nursing assistant, medical assistant at the Sharpe Clinic for Dr. Peterson, sold Cutco Cutlery, and was a caretaker for Gib Weber. Bette was also a Certified AODA Counselor for Fond du Lac County for 18 years retiring in 1996. Following retirement she worked as the "coffee lady" at Kwik Trip. Bette was currently a member of the Gratitude Club and board member of the Blandine House in Fond du Lac. Bette loved people, especially babies and old people, she was an avid reader, loved the Fond du Lac Public Library, loved life, was overly generous, was an avid Hughes Candy giver, enjoyed the staff at Kremer Pharmacy, and spent many years visiting Schreiner's Restaurant, where she loved the staff and had many friends. Bette was known for her sense of humor, quick wittedness and her stubborn independence. SURVIVORS: two sisters, Alice (Robert) Berg, Milwaukee, WI and Johanna Rothgery, California; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Bette is further survived by her adopted family of 40 years, Carol and Patrick Crowley and their children, Patrick (Kathy) Crowley and their children, Kevin, Michael, Kathryn and Erin (Scott) Brown; deepest and closest friend, Lynn Klapperich; special friends, Mike and Lynne Gibbons; and had a special fondness for Jim Colwin and the Colwin family. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Margaret (Willard) O'Laughlin and Barbara (Gordon) Shea; two brothers, Robert (Maxine) Petri and George (Irene) Petri; brother-in-law, Grover Rothgery; dear friend and mentor, Sr. M. Blandine; dear friend, Ann Nussey. Bette's sister, Alice Berg passed away the morning of August 10, 2010.



VISITATION: will be from 4 "“ 6 PM on Friday, August 13, 2010 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 6 PM on Friday, August 13, 2010 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place.
