Bronislaw "Bruno" M. Jozefowski

March 21, 1933 — August 15, 2022

Bruno Jozefowski, age 89, went home to the Lords loving arms on August 15, 2022. He was born in Kielce, Poland to Kazimierz and Franciszka (Bujak) Jozefowski.

Bruno had an amazing journey in life. He and his family were forced out of Poland at the start of WWII and were sent to Auschwitz Concentration camp. They survived the Holocaust by being displaced to Germany where his parents were used as forced labor while Bruno and his sister attended German school. During his teen years, while in Germany, he was trained to be a tailor, giving him the skill to tailor his own suites and coats. After the war, he and his family entered a displaced persons camp in Germany. In 1952 the family emigrated to the United States sponsored by a farm family in Westfield, Wisconsin. Later they relocated to Saukville, WI settling next door to Bruno’s future wife.

In 1954 he married Mary Feltes at St. Mary’s Church in Saukville. Bruno moved his family to Fond du Lac while proudly raising nine children who later gave them sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Bruno and Mary celebrated their 67th anniversary last year.

Bruno was drafted into the U.S Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany as a Combat Engineer and language interpreter for his commanding officer. After leaving active duty, he served in the Army Reserve.

Bruno had a great love of God, family, and country. He was community minded and belonged to several organizations including Volunteer Firefighters, Eagles Club, American Legion, VFW, and The Knights of Columbus serving as a Fourth Degree Knight. Through his churches St. Patrick’s (FDL) and St. John the Baptist in Princeton, WI he served as a lay minister distributing Communion at Sunday Mass and brought communion and ministry to nursing homes and St. Agnes Hospital. In his youth he was involved in Boy Scouts, and 4-H where he raised a prized hog for the Wisconsin State Fair. He was also an altar boy.

Bruno was active and adventurous. He loved to run and ran the Walleye Weekend Run for many years taking first place in his age group. He also loved hunting, traveling, and Polkas. He was known for his talent of playing music by ear on the piano and accordion. He brought joy to many family events entertaining with his music and joyful spirit.

Bruno retired from Mercury Marine after 42 years of dedicated work as a Quality Control Inspector at Plant 17 in Fond du Lac. He attended Moraine Park Technical College and Milwaukee Technical College.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, David (Mary), Daniel (Bridget), James (Nancy), Frank (Judy), Mark (Jess); daughters, Gail, Lucy (Scott) King, Ann (Randy) Davis, Sister Christa Gollnick; grandchildren, Nathan, Jacob, Sara, Josh, Carissa, Renee, Heather, Heidi, Nick, Rick, Alicia, Rachel, Anton, Angela; and his seventeen great grandchildren; brothers in law, Richard Hollenbach and Tony Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
