Byron B. Weed

September 1, 1930 — September 23, 2021

Byron Benjamin Weed, 91, of Pickett, WI, passed peacefully on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center, Oshkosh, WI. He was born in Rice Lake, WI, on September 1, 1930, to Benjamin and Agnes (Robarge) Weed. He was a graduate of the Rice Lake High School 1949 class. After high school Byron served in the Korean War. Upon return from the war, he continued his career in farming.

On October 27, 1956, Byron married Audrey D. Guenzel of Rosendale, WI, at Church of Peace in Fond du Lac. They were married 64 years while happily raising their four children. The couple farmed until Byron’s retirement in 1988. Byron then worked as groundskeeper for the Rosendale-Brandon School District.

Byron and Audrey shared a beautiful life together with their children, Guy “Buck”, Denise “Dee”, Quay, and Valerie. Byron is survived by his wife Audrey; children, Denise Harmsen, Quay (Jina), and Valerie (Steve) Parker. Eight grandchildren, Andrea (Andrew) Langenfeld, Leah (Jason) Challoner, Jacob (Sarah) Harmsen, Mitchell (Jennifer) Weed, Jordan (Amanda) Weed, Kieran (Apryl) Weed, Kara (Timothy) Baumann, Daniel (Emilie) Weed; eighteen grandchildren; two sisters, Beverly Buckner and Lois Anderson both of Rice Lake, WI. Byron was preceded in death by his son, Guy; his parents; his brother, Jerry; brothers-in-law, Don Buckner and Leroy Anderson; and sister-in-law, Erma Weed.

Byron was an avid sports fan, bowler, and card player. There was never an end to his humorous wit or lack for a good cold beer. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, especially watching them participate in sports. Byron also loved playing cards especially lately with his great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to the staff of Ascension Mercy Medical of Oshkosh.
