Carol Ruth Marquardt Plautz

Carol Ruth Marquardt Plautz, age 86, entered the glories of Heaven on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Adelaide Place in Fond du Lac, where she had been a resident since May 2022. Carol was born in Wausau on September 21, 1935, to the late Alvin W. and Evelyn S. (Johnson) Marquardt and was baptized in October 1935, and confirmed in the Christian faith in April 1949, at Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau. She graduated from Wausau High School in May 1953, and married Eugene E. Plautz in August 1955.



Over the years, she served her Lord by caring for her family, teaching Sunday school, and singing in the choirs of the various churches where she was a member. Outside of the family, she worked as a bookkeeper for a variety of businesses over many years. In her later years she suffered from macular degeneration, but in spite of that limitation, she faithfully read her daily Meditations until she could no longer operate her reading machine.



She is survived by her daughter, Kerry (David) Sehloff of Malone; her son, Steven (Judy) Plautz of Fond du Lac; her grandchildren, Joshua (Laura) Plautz of Franklin, Sarah (Dustin) Lorenz of Marinette, Andrew (Gail) Sehloff of Fond du Lac, Joel (Erica) Sehloff of Salt Lake City, UT; her great-grandchildren, Alexis and Carter Lorenz and Meadow and Kara Plautz.



She is further survived by her sister, Susan (Tom) Schindler of Wausau; brothers-in-law, Gary Natal and Joseph (Jo Ann) Plautz of Wausau; sisters-in-law, Karen (John) Jauch of Wausau, Dorothy Plautz of Wausau, and Donna Ray of Kankakee, IL; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.



In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her sisters, Doris Gappa and Annette Natal; her brothers-in-law, Niles Gappa, Donald Craft, James Plautz, and Charles Plautz; and special friend, John Thompson.



Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, from 12:00 noon until 1:30 PM at Faith Ev. Lutheran Church, 55 N. Prairie Rd, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. A funeral service will follow the visitation at church at 1:30 PM. Burial will take place on Friday September 2, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Restlawn Memorial Park, 235962 North Troy Street, Wausau, WI, 54403.



Memorials may be directed to the Lighting and Sound System fund at Faith Ev. Lutheran Church or Macular Degeneration Research.
