Charles E. "Charlie" Stanke

August 16, 1922 — March 19, 2007

Charles "Charlie" E. Stanke, age 84, formerly of Fond du Lac and a resident of Crivitz, died Monday, March 19, 2007 at Bay Area Medical Center, Marinette. He was born on August 16,1922 at Balton, Minnesota the son of Edward and Edna Fuerhammer Stanke. He married Joyce Schacht in Oconto in July 1946. Charles attended Fond du Lac Schools. He worked at the Sturgeon Bay Shipyards, Giddings & Lewis for 25 years, and A.O. Smith in Milwaukee from where he retired. He was a member of the Fond du Lac Eagles Aerie No. 270, loved hunting fishing, especially moving to the Crivitz area where he loved trout fishing. Charles enjoyed going to the Thunder Mountain Valley Inn where he enjoyed a few beers or a martini.He is survived by a son, Bruce (Marlene) Stanke, Crivitz, a daughter, Jill Barbeau, Fond du Lac, three grandchildren, Lisa (Rick) Cody, Juneau,WI, Nick (Melanie)Bonnell, Fond du Lac, Eric (fiancé Heather) Stanke, Green Bay, five great-grandchildren, brother-in-laws, Wil (Betty) Erieau and Wesley Schacht, all of Green Bay. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Joyce in July 1966.



The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 from 2 to 5: 00 P.M. at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at the funeral home with Reverend Douglas V. Hedman officiating. Cremation has taken place with inurnment at Ledgeview Memorial Park.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
