Clarence J. SchmitzClarence J. Schmitz, 83, of N9545 Town Hall Road, Town of Marshfield, died Sunday, September 11, 2005, at his residence. He was born February 10, 1922, in Johnsburg, the son of Leo and Alvina Diedrich Schmitz. On January 14, 1942, he married Bernetta Sabel at Holy Cross Church in Mt. Calvary. Mr. Schmitz was a member of St. John The Baptist Church in Johnsburg. He was formerly employed by the Immel and Hutter construction companies for many years as a cement finisher. Mr. Schmitz was a lifelong member of the Calumet Volunteer Fire Department, the Royal Order of the Redmen, St. John's Holy Name Society, a past President of the Laborers Local 1086, and a member of the Bricklayers Union.Surviving is his wife, Bernetta, three sons, Larry (Jan) Schmitz of Muskego, Paul (Judy) Schmitz of Malone, and Michael (Chris) Schmitz of Fond du Lac, seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and nine step great-grandchildren, three sisters, Leona (Roger) Stephany of Johnsburg, Agnes Berenz of New Holstein, and Gertrude Merten of Johnsburg, a brother-in-law. Leander Sabel of St. Peter, two sisters-in-law, Elfreida Schmitz and Julitta Bertram, both of St. Peter, and a special friend, Rev. Wally Orzechowski, also of St. Peter. His parents, a brother, Patrick, a sister, Irene Schneider, five brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law, preceded him in death.



Visitation for Mr. Clarence J. Schmitz will be on Wednesday, September 14, 2005, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Thursday, September 15, 2005, at 9:45 am at the funeral home and Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg. The Rev. Joseph Coerber will officiate and entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park. A memorial has been established in Mr. Schmitz's name.
