Delbert Walter Paepke

March 1, 1920 — February 2, 2009

Delbert Walter Paepke went home to live with his Lord on Monday, February 2nd at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, WI. Del was born on March 1st, 1920 in Milwaukee. being the first two children of Louis and Hazel (Dooley) Paepke. He specialized in woodworking at Boys Tech High School and after graduation in 1938 worked as a die cutter operator Hanson Glove in Milwaukee.He married the love of his life, Mildred Clara Zauner, on November 1, 1941 before entering U.S. Army in March of 1943. While serving overseas, he participated in battles in Normandy, northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and central Europe. After discharge in December of 1945, he returned home to his family. There he began working and then became part owner of Quality Store Fixtures, a bar and store fixture making business in Milwaukee. Later, he was employed by the school district of West Allis/West Milwaukee in the maintenance department and then as a custodian. He remained working at Nathan Hale High School until his retirement,Del and Milly have three children: Barbara (Richard) Gorsegner of New Berlin, WI, Jack (Dianne) Paepke of Collins, MS, and Jill (Mario) Chou of Fond du Lac, WI. Proud and. loving grandparents of: Tracy (Dave) De Angelis of Muskego, WI, Tim (Barb) Gorsegner of Palmyra, WI, Stephen (Beth) Paepke of Pocono Summit, PA, Brian (Marta) Chou of Ramsey, MN, Jennifer (Sam) King of Metarie, LA, Wendy (Tom) Ackerman of Nooksak, WA. Other blessings include great grandchildren Sean, Julia, Donovan, Maddox, Kayla, Seth, (Kristy) and Erin.Lois (Harold) Lutz of Germantown is his sister. He was also loved by additional sisters andbrothers-in-laws, nieces and nephews, other family members and his church family at Divine Savior Lutheran Church in North Fond du Lac.In his later years, he loved to recall places he traveled and times spent with family and friends. He was very proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. Many fulfilling years were spent as the manager of the Milwaukee Conntinental Cadet Youth Band in the 1960's when he devoted weekends to traveling on a bus to various parades and concerts, as well as being actively involved with the Milwaukee Area Boy Scouts.



A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Divine Savior Lutheran. Church on Friday, February 6th at 6:00 pm. The Rev. Allen Bramstadt will officiate. Visitation with the family begins at 4:00 and a light supper will be served following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Divine Savior's Memorial Garden. The address of the church is 1081 Prospect Avenue in North Fond du Lac. Uecker-Witt has been entrusted in Del's arrangements.
