Delmar L. "Del" Gieschen

Delmar 'Del' Leroy Gieschen, 67, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at St. Agnes Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Del was born February 9, 1941, in Fond du Lac, the son of Sigurd and Luella (Dena) Gieschen. Del was a graduate from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in 1959. Following graduation, he attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He went on to work as a warehouse clerk for the Green Giant Company in Rosendale. On February 17, 1962, he was united in marriage to Elaine Margaret Lamb at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in North Fond du Lac. In 1965 Del was employed by Harbridge Sheet Metal. Del formed Sig's Heating and Air Conditioning with his father in 1970, where he later became self-employed until 1998. Then, he worked at St. Agnes Hospital from 1999-2007. By popular demand, he operated S&D Mechanical L.L.C. until he was diagnosed with cancer in 2007. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Fond du Lac. Del was a former member of the North Fond du Lac Businessmen Association and the North Fond du Lac Rod & Gun Club. He also served as president and coach of the boys' baseball league in North Fond du Lac. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working, golfing, and playing cards with his friends.Survivors include, his wife Elaine Gieschen of 46 years, of Fond du Lac; his children Debra (John) Weber of Valders, Lynn Gieschen of Fond du Lac, Daniel Gieschen of Van Dyne, Donald (Kathy) Gieschen of Fond du Lac; his mother Luella (Dena) Gieschen his special grandchildren Erica and Amanda Gieschen, Rachel, Christy, and Jacob Weber, Brandon Budreau, Jered and Ryan Doylen; his siblings Joyce (Richard) Betti, Arlin (Bobbi) Gieschen, Lorna (Dan) Heller; his sister- and brother-in-laws Carol Grube, Patty and Barry Will, Robert and Penny Lamb, Marian and Jesus Hernandez, Tom and Jan Lamb, Sharon and Terry Schneider, three aunts, Loureha Heller, Faye Henke, Hulda Gieschen and also many nieces and nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Sigurd Gieschen and brother-in-law Robert Grube, one nephew-Steve Gieschen.



VISITATION: Friends may call on Thursday, February 5, 2008 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home .FUNERAL: Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 6, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1010 Adams Avenue, North Fond du Lac. Reverend Thomas Behnke will officiate. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Nekimi. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 A.M. to the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family and a donation will be made inhonor of Del to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in North Fond du Lac.The family would like to thank the staff at the cancer center in Fond du Lac for all their loving care and support, especially Sister Rebecca. We would also like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Agnes Hospital and to Pastor Behnke for his comforting words and support through this trying time.
