Donald E. Benedict, 73, of 289 E. Scott, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born May 16, 1935, in York Center, WI, the son of Nyle E. and Aura E. Bradbury Benedict. On June 15, 1957, he married Joan Peroni in York Center. Mr. Benedict was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a Bachelor of Science in History with strong minors in Mathematics and Social Studies. He taught Math and Drivers Education in the Lomira Community Schools for 34 years, retiring in 1992. Donald was a veteran of the US Army Reserves, serving from 1958 to 1964. He enjoyed sports, having coached JV Basketball and freshman football. He was a passionate Cubs fan.Surviving is his wife, Joan, a son, Randy (Kim) Benedict of Fort Worth, TX, three daughters, Cheryl (Dan) Nielsen of Fond du Lac, Beth (John) DesJardin of Apex, NC, and Kari (Kevin) Schneider of Fond du Lac; five grandchildren, Ashley, Alex, Aaron, and Anna Benedict, and Emily DesJardin. He is further survived by a brother, Larry (Dee) Benedict of Stevens Point, and a sister, Georgia (Donald) Pinkerton of Oshkosh. His parents preceded him in death.



Visitation for Mr. Donald E. Benedict will be on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and on Thursday, July 3, 2008 from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Covenant United Methodist Church, 20 N. Marr Street, Fond du Lac. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am at the church on Thursday. The Rev. Michael Morning will officiate and entombment will be in the Rienzi Garden Mausoleum, Rienzi Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Mr. Benedict's name.
