Donald L. Nelson

Donald L. Nelson, 80, of 377 Walker Street, Fond du Lac, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Froedert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Wauwatosa. He was born in Livingston, Montana, on March 13, 1929 the son of William W. and Edith M. Meloche Nelson. On May 13, 1983 he married Charlotte R. Borzelet in Fond du Lac. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force serving from 1947 until his retirement as a Master Segeant in 1970. Donald then worked as a correctional officer for 15 years at the Waupun Correctional Institution, retiring in 1986. He was an avid fisherman, traveling yearly to Canada on fishing trips from 1973 "“ 2009. He was a member of the Fond du Lac Eagles Aerie #270. He was an avid bowler, bowling a 300 game on October 13, 1990. He enjoyed hunting, decoy carving, woodworking, and loved a great cup of coffee with family and friends. SURVIVORS: his wife, Charlotte, Fond du Lac; five children, Donald (Brenda) Nelson, Wrenthan, MA, Allison (Robert) Stephenson, Reedsburg, WI, LaDonna Nelson-Bruckert, Sauk City, WI, Deana (Wayne) Holmes, Amherst, WI, Lewis Nelson, Fond du Lac; seven grandchildren, Mary, Alicia, Shane, Cody, Wade, Gavin, Connor; three great grandchildren, Julie, Jerrica, Isabel. He was preceded in death by his parents.



VISITATION: will be from 4 "“ 8 PM on Friday, March 12, 2010 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Rosenberg officiating. Entombment will follow at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park. Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 will conduct military graveside services.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
