Eleanor E. Braatz

December 25, 1927 — July 4, 2008

Eleanor Emma Braatz, age 80, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, July 4, 2008 after spending the day with her daughters. Eleanor, our beloved mother, had seven children each of which loved her dearly. She sacrificed much for us and we appreciate her greatly. Our mother suffered from a lung disease (COPD) caused by many years of smoking. It adversely affected her quality of life in many ways. By sharing this we hope it will have a positive influence on anyone who now smokes or considers starting. Born a Christmas child on December 25, 1927, our mother went out with a bang just as the fireworks began on Independence Day. Eleanor was born in Germantown, the daughter of Arnold and Freida Otte. She married Orlon W. Braatz in Fond du Lac in 1947. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Evelyn Pinch (Stan) and Alma Kissinger (Herbert), brothers Rudy (Caroll) and Bill (Kathy), Orlon, and most regretfully her daughter Susan Tribble (Ken) who died two years ago. She is survived by brothers Arnie (Nancy) and Arthur (Darlene), daughters Fran Roeseler, Barbara Vodgs (Mike), Debra Tabbert, Lori Marcoe (Tim), sons Gary (Jane) and Dennis (Janet), many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, and special family friend Tom Burton.

We are respecting our mother's wish to limit final visitation to immediate family members but want to thank all of you who have been wonderful friends to her; she thought about you often. Thanks to all who have offered condolences over these past few days; we sincerely appreciate your support. A special thanks to the nursing staff at St. Agnes Hospital, Manor Care nursing home and Hospice for their special care during our mother's last few days of life. Our mother's cremains will rest with her parents' and other family members in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park in Fond du Lac.
