Elizabeth "Betty" B. Grater

Elizabeth “Betty” B. Grater, 87, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Manor Care Health Services in Fond du Lac. Betty was born October 2, 1927 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Elmer and Mary (Petrie) Wempner. On November 20, 1948 she was united in marriage to Glen Grater at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac.

She was employed for many years as a secretary with the Fond du Lac School District. She spent many hours knitting and donated hundreds of newborn caps to St. Agnes Hospital. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.



Surviving Betty is her husband of 65 years, Glen, one daughter, Mary (Larry) Madsen of Nekoosa, WI, one son, Michael (Peggy) of Fond du Lac, five grandchildren; David (Sherri) Madsen of Oconomowoc, Bradly Madsen of North East, MD, Jim (Sara) Grater of Germantown, Kevin (Kathryn) Grater of Neenah, and Katie (Brett) Mentink of St. Peter, nine great-grandchildren; Mollie, Ellie, Carlie, Maria, Matthew, Megan, Hudson, Breahna, and Madden. Betty is further survived by two brothers; David (Donna) Wempner and Jim Wempner, both of Fond du Lac, two sisters; Dorothy Nehls of Fond du Lac and Joan (David) Plowden of Titusville, FL and two sisters-in-law; Mary Wempner of Fond du Lac and Pearle LaLumia of Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Don.



FUNERAL INFORMATION



A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Presentation Catholic Church in North Fond du Lac. Per Betty’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Following the mass, inurnment will occur in Calvary Cemetery. Cremation has taken place.
