Ellen M. Parker

October 28, 1931 — March 17, 2016

Ellen M. Parker, 84 of Fond du Lac died peacefully on March 17, 2016 at home surrounded by her family.

She was born on October 28, 1931 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of George W. Lade and Mary A. Weinshrott Lade.

During high school Ellen worked at McKnight’s Drugstore and Wilson School before graduating from Fond du Lac High School in 1949. She was a staff bookkeeper for several years after high school at the Fond du Lac Clinic.

On February 3, 1951 Ellen married her high school sweetheart, William “Bill” Parker at St. Joseph’s Church in Fond du Lac and was a lifetime member of Holy Family Catholic Community.

Beginning in 1959 Ellen shifted to a new career becoming a devoted mother and homemaker. She strongly supported and faithfully attended both of her children’s extracurricular activities. She became a licensed insurance agent and partner in Bill’s business as office manager, secretary, and bookkeeper once the children left for college.

Over the years Ellen took part in playing bridge with friends, sewing, bird watching, ceramics, shopping, and Fireside Theater performances. She also thoroughly enjoyed decorating her house for every holiday. Ellen and Bill participated in numerous excursions together including their annual “snowbird” trips to Tucson, Arizona.

Ellen took particular pleasure in family gatherings with children, grandchildren, and the extended family. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. She even mastered text messaging and Facebook in order to keep up with their daily lives.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, William Parker; her children: David (Rita) Parker, Nancy (Mark) Wendlandt, grandchildren: Jennifer (Peter) Wendlandt-Adam, Victoria Wendlandt, Zachary (Tiffany) Parker, Christopher Wendlandt, Anthony Parker, Melissa Wendlandt, Stephanie Wendlandt, Natalie Parker, and great grandson, Aidyn Pedersen. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Geraldine Parker, niece Karen Parker-Vermeer, nephew Robert Christie, and dear friend and cousin Carol Pitt.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, special aunts Valeria “Girlie” Weinshrott and Lorraine (Eddie) Bihss, along with special uncle Joseph (Jennie) Weinshrott. She was also preceded in death by her beloved dog of 15 years, Sandy.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the dedicated aides, nurses, and doctors of Agnesian HealthCare, St. Francis Home, and Hospice Hope. Sincerely appreciated is the daily, loving care provided by her personal aides from Comfort Keepers and private aides who have become extended family over the past four years.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 28th from 5:00-8:00pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, and also at Holy Family Catholic Church, 271 4th St. Way, Fond du Lac, on Tuesday, March 29th from 10:00-11:00am.
