Evelyn M. Mullen

April 10, 1929 — November 10, 2016

Evelyn M. Mullen, 87, died with family by her side on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mt. Calvary. She was born in Fond du Lac on April 10, 1929, a daughter of Herbert and Charlotte (O’Malley) Hodgden. On May 15, 1954, Evelyn married James Mullen at St. Louis Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on August 27, 2015.



For many years, Evelyn and James enjoyed clowning and volunteering at many church functions. In addition, they played the part of Mr. and Mrs. Claus, visiting local nursing home during the Christmas season. Evelyn will be remembered for making people smile and for being a very caring person, even watching over many of her friends while at the Villa. She especially liked caring for and walking the Villa’s dog, Red.



Survivors include her daughter, Pam (Jim) Rieden of St. Cloud; granddaughter, Kathy (Lucas) Vander Kinter and their children, Michael, Matthew and Olivia; granddaughter, Laurie (Nate) Sippel; and grandson, Joe (Susan), their son, Otto, as well as their second child due later this month. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; a grandson, Michael James; 3 brothers and 1 sister.



Private family burial will take place on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Calvary Cemetery in Fond du Lac. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date. Cremation has taken place.



The family wishes to thank the following organizations for the care and compassion shown to Evelyn; the staff of Villa Loretto Nursing Home and Agnesian Hospice Hope and the Sister Servants of Christ the King.
