Everett H. Streeter

February 24, 1922 — December 31, 2006

Everett H. Streeter, 84, a resident of the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home, formerly of 372 Boyd Street, died Sunday, December 31, 2006, at the home. He was born in Fond du Lac on February 24, 1922, to F. Everett and Cecilia K. Konen Streeter. Everett was raised in Fond du Lac and attended public schools there. In 1939, he was employed by the Civilian Conservation Corps to work on conservation projects in northern Wisconsin. Everett enlisted in the Army Air Corps on September 14, 1942, and served in the European Theater with the 565th and 305th Bomb Squadrons. He was honorably discharged on January 25, 1946. On January 30, 1946, Everett re-enlisted in the Air Force Reserves and was honorably discharged on January 29, 1949. In 1946, Everett and Betty Jean Krueger were united in marriage at St. Matthew's Methodist Church in Fond du Lac. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 21, 2006. Everett was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Fond du Lac. Mr. Streeter began working for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad in 1946. He was a conductor on passenger trains and a brakeman on freight trains for 36 years, until his retirement in 1982. Everett also worked part-time at Johnson School Bus. During retirement, Everett kept himself very busy. He was active in the Fond du Lac area senior bowling leagues, bowling several "600" series games. Everett and Betty traveled around the United States and throughout Europe. He enjoyed baking, puttering around home, spending time with family, and helping neighbors. Everett especially enjoyed refurbishing discarded bicycles, putting them at curb sided on trash day and watching from inside the house as a child discovered and then happily rode away with a like-new bicycle. The smile on Dad's face said volumes about the kind, quiet, gentle, and loving man he was in life. Everett will be greatly missed by his wife, Betty, and by their daughter, Sue Ellen Dolfin. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Henry, Lester, Lyle, and Lawrence; his sister, Vivian Klima; and by an infant daughter, Suzanne Jean.
