Fred J. "Rick" Schmidt Jr.

Fred J. “Rick” Schmidt Jr, age 68, of Fond du Lac, died surrounded by his family after battling cancer through many season, he took it to the World Series and lost in game seven on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Aurora Medical Center, Oshkosh. He was born on October 21, 1947 in Oshkosh, the son of Fred J. Schmidt Sr. and Dorothy (Stead) Schmidt. Fred served in the United States Navy. On May 15, 1971 he married the love of his life Carol Reinhold at St. Joseph’s Church, Fond du Lac. He worked for forty-one years at Mercury Marine until retiring in 2009. He loved sports, especially the Packers, Brewers, Badgers, and Bucks. Fred was a member of Eagles Aerie #270. He enjoyed traveling, especially going to numerous baseball stadiums with his boy Rick.



SURVIVORS: his wife, Carol of Fond du Lac; one son, Rick (Candy) Schmidt of Fond du Lac; his five beauties (granddaughters), Amber and Cassandra Schmidt, Ashley (John Ford Jr.), Samantha (Corey Atkins), and Mackenzie Treffert; two great-grandchildren, Addison Treffert and Easton Ford; sisters, Linda Lind, Donna (Jerry) Hawley, Joyce (Kenny) Thill; brothers, Charles (Raedean) Schmidt, Danny (Cindy) Schmidt; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother in law and father in law, Frank “Red” and Eunice Reinhold; sister, Jeanette Hager; brother, Duane Schmidt; sisters in law, Jackie Schmidt and Shirley Gehde; brothers in law, Marvin Lind, Lowell Hager Sr, and James Gehde.



VISITATION: Friday, April 1, 2016 from 4-8 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. FUNERAL: Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Visitation will also take place on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Cremation will follow the service. At Fred’s request, please wear apparel of your favorite sports team to the visitation and service.
