George J. DittrichGeorge J. Dittrich, 81, of 91 Heritage Court, died Thursday, November 9, 2006, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born December 2, 1924, in Fond du Lac, the son of John and Pauline Trummer Dittrich. He graduated from Lowell P. Goodrich High School in 1943, and attended General Motors Dealer College at Notre Dame University in South Bend, IN. On November 10, 1973, he married T. Darlene Davis Young. They resided at 80 Sunset Circle for 22 years, later moving to Golf Vu Drive and Cantom Avenue, and most recently to Heritage Court. In January of 1962, Mr. Dittrich purchased the Buick Dealership at 40 Fourth Street, and later added the American Motors and Jeep franchises. He successfully operated the business until November 1989 when he sold the franchise. Since selling his business, he had been employed by Holiday Automotive as senior sales consultant and tele-marketing executive. During his 56-year automotive career, Mr. Dittrich was President of the Tri-County auto dealers association, member and a Past President of the Fond du Lac Exchange Club, and district director of the same. He held a seat on the Buick Dealer Counsel, and for 8 years, was on the board of directors of Wis-Co Corporation of Marshfield. Mr. Dittrich was a life member of Elks Lodge #57, and was Exalted Ruler from 1961 to 1962. He and his wife are members of Pilgrim United Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Darlene, three daughters, Diana (Thomas) Janssen of Appleton, WI, Ms Deborah Young and Rebecca (Ron) Bieker, both of Las Vegas, NV, one son, Douglas J. (Elaine) Dittrich of Naperville, IL, five grandchildren, Greg, Brad, and Stephanie Janssen, Melissa Batterman, and Kelly Hofheins, one great-granddaughter, Megan Hofheins. His parents, a grandson, and three sisters preceded him in death.



Visitation for Mr. George J. Dittrich will be on Sunday, November 12, 2006, from 3 to 7 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and on Monday, November 13, from 12 noon to 1 pm at Pilgrim Church. Funeral services will be at 1 pm on Monday at the church. The Rev. Ted Drewsen will officiate and burial will be in Rienzi Cemetery.
