Georgene M. Herbert

November 17, 1933 — January 18, 2006

Georgene M. Herbert, 72, formerly of 1092 S. Park Avenue, Fond du Lac, died January 18, 2006, at the Hospice Home of Hope, where she had been a patient for the past four months. She was born on November 17, 1933, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of the late George H. and Mayo (Lesselyoung) Ferdinand. On October 13, 1954, she married Kent T. Herbert at St. Mary's Chapel, Fort Riley, Kansas. Georgene and her husband lived in Fond du Lac, Green Bay, Two Rivers, Hoffman Estates, Illinois, Joliet, Illinois, Atlanta, Georgia and Miramar, Florida before returning to Fond du Lac in 2004. She was a long time Chicago Cubs fan; she loved golf and fishing, and was known for her beautiful needlework, quilting and puzzles, and had just completed the world's largest jigsaw puzzle (18,000 pieces) before her illness. Georgene worked for several years as a Medical Office Manager before retiring. Georgene was a member of Holy Family Parish-Sacred Heart Church.Survivors include her husband of 54 years; her children: Mark (Betty) Herbert of Wichita, Kansas, Thomas (Cindy) Herbert of Butte Des Morts, Wisconsin, Kevin (Rose) Herbert of St. Cloud, Wisconsin, Elizabeth (Lee) Van Deraa of Appleton, Wisconsin, Christine Herbert (Special Friend Kelly Conrad) of De Pere, Wisconsin, Anthony (Kathy) Herbert of De Pere, Wisconsin, Michael (Mary) Herbert of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, eightteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; her sisters Helen Ann (Harold) Spoerke of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Judy (Richard) Swantz of La Crosse, Wisconsin; her brothers Robert (Gloria) Ferdinand and Anthony (Ginny) Ferdinand, both of Fond du Lac. She was preceded in death by both of her parents.



Visitation for Mrs. Georgene M. Herbert will be on Sunday, January 22, 2006, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and from 9 to 10 am on Monday, January 23, 2006 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10 am on Monday, January 23, 2006, from the funeral home, and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am from Holy Family Parish-Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Dennis Budka of Holy Family Parish will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Heartfelt thanks to the Staff and Volunteers of the Hospice Home of Hope who so lovingly and compassionately cared for Georgene through her last illness. Flowers are welcome.She was greatly loved by her husband, her family, and her friends for the love and kindness that she gave to everyone and for her great sense of humor and courage in the face of many years of difficult illness.
