Gloria T. Hackbarth, 78, of W896 Hackbarth Road, Town of Forest, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, August 14, 2009, at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born June 14, 1931, in Mt. Calvary, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Schaefer Schaub. On June 30, 1951, she married the love of her life, William "Bill" Hackbarth at Holy Cross Church in Mt. Calvary. She was a member of Shepherd of The Hills Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #664 Auxiliary, the Dundee Long Lake Lions Club, the Christian Women's Society, parish council, past member of the church choir, and the Empire Thresheree Club. Gloria was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She liked cooking, working puzzles, listening to music, and spending time with her family. She was lovingly known as the "Cookie Lady." Surviving is her husband, Bill, two daughters, Linda (Gary) Smet of Fond du Lac, and Sharon (Charlie) Hoepfner of North Fond du Lac, four sons, Robert Hackbarth of Auckland, New Zealand, John (Kay) Hackbarth of Glenbeulah, James (Cathy) Hackbarth of Fond du Lac, and Tim (Brenda) Hackbarth of Byron, eight grandchildren, Sarah Hackbarth, Nicholas Hoepfner, Kimberly Hoepfner, William "Will" Hackbarth, Jacob Hoepfner, Halie Hackbarth, Annie Hackbarth, and Ethan Hackbarth. She is further survived by three sisters, Dolores Buerger of Fond du Lac, Elizabeth Tautges of Chandler, AZ, and Henrietta (Frank) Watson of Spooner. Further surviving is a brother-in-law, Wilfred Schmitz of Mt. Calvary, a sister-in-law, Lorraine Schaub of Fond du Lac, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, a son, Richard "Hack" Hackbarth, two grandchildren, Marilynn Hackbarth and Nathaniel Hackbarth, four brothers, Alois, Benno, Joseph, and Marvin Schaub, three sisters, Sidonia Lassig, Beatrice Abler, and Alice Schmitz.



Visitation for Gloria Hackbarth will be on Monday, August 17, 2009, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and on Tuesday, August 18th from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Shepherd of The Hills Catholic Church, W1562 Cty Road B, Eden. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday at the church. The Rev. Joseph Juknialis will officiate and burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Armstrong. A memorial has been established in Gloria's name.
