Gordon Harvey Zwicky, age 78, of Oshkosh, died on Friday, March 09, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center Oshkosh WI.. Gordon was born on September 25, 1928 in Fond du Lac, WI to Harvey W. and Esther B (Bartels) Zwicky. He married Dorothy A. Barthuly on February 18th, 1950.Gordy served in the US. Air Force from 1945-1948 and was stationed in the Philippines and Japan. As a young man he loved to fly, play softball and bowl. His lifelong love, however, was fishing. He treasured the lakes of Northern Wisconsin and Canada. One of the greatest joys of his life was teaching his children and grandchildren how to fish. Gordy was an active member of the Eagle's Club in Fond du Lac, the Disabled American Veterans and enjoyed playing in the Old Timers Softball league in Fond du Lac with all of his old cronies. One of Gordy's proudest moments was being deemed the Burlington Liar's Club Champion in the year 2000. Gordon loved to tell jokes and often kept his cue card in his shirt pocket for easy reference. He loved his little church in Allenville and always had a joke for the Pastor each Sunday. Gordon and Dorothy owned and operated Zwicky's "Big Z" Grocery Store in Fond du Lac for many years. They also owned and operated the Crystal Creek Dairy House in Beaver Dam WI. In later years they opened their first Paper Heaven store in Appleton. In 1995 they sold their chain of stores and retired in Oshkosh where they could be near their children and grandchildren. In retirement they loved to winter in Gulf Shores, Alabama and to spend time with family and friends' playing cards and dominos. In his later years he developed a love for woodworking and enjoyed bestowing his creations on others.Gordy was a much-loved husband, brother, father, father-in-law and grandfather. Survivors include his beloved wife Dorothy, his daughter Jani Marcellis Picard (Rick), Oshkosh; his son Michael J. Zwicky, Oshkosh; grandsons' Jason and Justin Marcellis, Oshkosh; brother Larry Zwicky, Del Rio, Texas; sister Audrey Lazanas, Madison, WI; brother Jack Zwicky (Marion), Lake Tomahawk, WI, his niece and many nephews. Gordon was preceded in death by his brother Orville, his parents, and his first born son Jeffrey. The Zwicky family wishes to express their appreciation to Affinity Hospice and the staff of Mercy Medical Center for their extraordinary care and compassion. A special hug to Rena and a grateful heart to Pastor David Eisley, who was there every step along the way.



Visitation for Mr. Gordon Harvey Zwicky will be on Wednesday, March 14, 2007, from 4 to 7 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Avenue, Fond du Lac. Memorial services will be at 7 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Pastor David Eisley will officiate. Cremation has taken place.
