Gordon J. Chmielewski

October 2, 1940 — December 23, 2021

Gordon J. Chmielewski “Chimo” died on December 23, 2021, while undergoing heart surgery. He was born at home in Milwaukee on October 2, 1940, to Frank and Catherine (Sikora) Chmielewski. He proudly served in the Army as a Paratrooper in Special Forces. Gordy married Ellen Belvoir on June 21, 1969, at Christ King Catholic Church in Wauwatosa; his cousin Fr. Ed Wawrzyniakowski married them. Together they enjoyed travelling for a few years before being blessed with their sons, Frank and Kirk (Kristin). His family grew with grandchildren Dallas (Chelsey), Dylan Bielski, Mikayla, Shaw, Troy, and Kody. He was further blessed with great grandchildren Xavier and Adalynn.

Gordy loved life, especially family, friends, and all of his adventures travelling, motorcycling, fishing, skiing, hunting, and wherever the road took him. He enjoyed telling stories of the very full life he lived. Motorcycles were part of his life from the 50’s to present: choppers to trikes. While living in Oak Creek, Gordy chartered on Lake Michigan. When he moved to Oshkosh, Gordy fished the Master Walleye Circuit and Professional Walleye tournaments, plus local and sport fishing. He was a member of the National Ski Patrol for 14 years, testing, training, and especially fun family time on the ski hill.

Gordy worked at J I Case, Oster Company, and Deltrol Controls while living in Milwaukee. After moving to Oak Creek in 1976, he worked at AC/Delco-Delphi. He was a proud U.A.W. member, and held many titles during his employment; Shop Steward, Committee Man, Shop Chairman, Alternate Committee Man, etc., until retiring in 2000 when he moved to Oshkosh.

Gordy was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rita Kusy; brother, Carl; brother-in-law, Tony Kusy; sister-in-law, Susan Belvoir; aunts; uncles; cousins; and nephew-in-law, Brain (Peggy) Naseman.

Gordy’s memory will always live in our hearts. The Chmielewski family.

A Celebration of Gordy’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed in Gordy’s name to Patriot Guard Riders and Wounded Warriors Project.
