Harold C. Munson

August 1, 1925 — March 20, 2006

Harold C. Munson, 80 of Fond du Lac, died Monday, March 20,2006 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 1,1925 in Fond du Lac to Howard and Margaret Scherer Munson. Harold attended Fond du Lac Schools. He served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years on the USS LST 218 invasion of the South Pacific. He married Elizabeth Jane Drolshagen on June 15,1946 at the First Presbyterian Church, Fond du Lac by Reverend Charles Damp. Harold joined the Fond du Lac Fire Department in December 1947. In September of 1971 he was promoted to fire chief. He served as chief until he retired in June 1989.Harold was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Fond du Lac Eagles Aerie No.270 for 45 years, Noon Optimist Club, Fox Valley Fire Chief Association, Wisconsin State Fire Chiefs Association, and VFW Post No.1904. He was a past member of the Toastmasters. He was an avid sportsman, loved hunting, fishing, bird watching, and spent many summers at their Manitowish Waters cottage. Harold also enjoyed bowling, golf and going to the casino to play Keno.Surviving are his wife Elizabeth of 59 years, two children, daughter, Sandra (Larry) Johnson, and son, Lee (Phyllis) Munson, 5 grandchildren, Debbie (Mike) Gillard, Julie (Mark) Blaha, Lori (Brandt) Maurer, Brian (Jennifer) Munson, Michele (Ryan) Koplin, six great-grandchildren, Nathan, Mathilda, Lucy, Max, Porter, and Samantha, two brothers, Donald Munson, and Kenneth (Jean) Munson, four nieces and one nephew, and many cousins. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, sister-in-law, Janet Munson.



VISITATION: Thursday, March 23,2006 from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. FUNERAL; Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Reverend Anthony Farina officiating. Burial will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park."A special thank you to Pastor Tony Farina for all his visits and prayers. A very special thank you to all the Hospice nurses who gave caring and compassionate care to Harold and his family during this difficult time".The family has asked that in lieu of flowers that donations can be made to Hospice in memory of Harold.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
