Harold E. Maltby

Harold E. Maltby, age 90, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at St. Francis Home. He was born on April 25, 1923 in Brothertown, son of the late Daniel and Cora (Phillips) Maltby. He lived in Brothertown his entire life farming the land he grew up on. Harold proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WW II on the escort carrier U.S.S. Nehenta Bay in the Pacific theatre from 1944 to 1946.He was united in marriage to Shirley Rothmann at St. Paul's U.C.C. Malone on August 30, 1949. Harold pursued his love of aircraft by obtaining his private pilots license and enjoyed courting Shirley with loop de loops and entertaining the grandkids with plane rides from the farm. He loved to hunt deer (up North and locally) and fishing of any kind but his passion was sturgeon spearing on Lake Winnebago. Many a summer was also spent on the lake sailing. Harold and Shirley moved to Fond du Lac in 2007 and enjoyed 4 years in their new condominium home. Harold is survived by his beloved wife Shirley: sons, Kevin (Patti) of Colgate and Ken (Laura) of Menomonee Falls: daughter, Kim (Patrick) McCutcheon of Madison: grandchildren Danielle, Ian, Jenna, Bria & Dana Maltby; Seth, Keeley and Luke McCutcheon: sister, Muriel Schwalbach and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Sylvester and sister Naomi Steiner.



A visitation will be held at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, Fond du Lac on Saturday May 18, 2013 from 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. Keith Weiland officiating. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will take place at Union Cemetery in Brothertown. WI.
