Harry D. Hitchcock

Harry Deane Hitchcock, 86, formerly of Hubbard County, MN and recently a resident of Kindred Hearts Assisted Living, Fond du Lac died Thursday, July 17, 2008. He was born in a log cabin on June 18, 1922 in Lake George Township, Hubbard County, MN, the son of Harry and Ruth Braatz Hitchcock. On February 23, 1946 he married Jacqueline Wersel in Clinton, IA and she preceded him in death on October 1, 1996. Harry resided in Northern Minnesota until enlisting in the US Navy the day after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He was a sales and service representative for J. I. Case in Racine, WI for 30 years retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Lutheran Faith all of his life. Harry was a charter member of the VFW Post in Plymouth, IN. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, and volunteering his time building churches with Laborers for Christ in the following cities, Nortonville, KS, Orland Park, IL, Hewitt, WI, Waite Park, MN.SURVIVORS: two son, Michael (Deb) Hitchcock, Appleton, WI, Harry "Dean" (Susanna) Hitchcock, Jr., Yuma, AZ; one daughter, Kathryn (Peter) Burns, Fond du Lac; six grandchildren, Ginnette (Luke) Newman, Fond du Lac, Edward Burns (special friend, Jill Niedfeldt), Fond du Lac, Greg Burns, Fond du Lac, Beth Burns, Fond du Lac, Kathryn "Katy" Hitchcock, Yuma, AZ, Harry "Deane" Hitchcock III, Yuma, AZ; two step-grandchildren, Melissa and Garret Ertman, Appleton, WI; three great-grandchildren, Katerina and Olivia Neuman, Arianna Burns; two sisters, June Terhark, Park Rapids, MN, Dorothy Embree, Park Rapids, MN; two brothers, Phillip (Bev) Hitchcock, Webster, WI, Richard (Joyce) Hitchcock, Fergus Falls, MN; three sisters-in-law, Etta Mae Hitchcock, Salem, OR, Georgia Hitchcock, Wyoming, MN, Joan Cosgrove, Lisle, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jacqueline; one son, Patrick Hitchcock; two brothers, Donald and David Hitchcock; one sister, Delia.



Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 12 noon at Pine Island Cemetery, Pine Island, MN with Rev. Timothy P. Larson officiating. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Additional information and guestbook may be found at www.ueckerwitt.com.
