Helen E. Brenner

Our Lord and Savior called Helen Elizabeth (Mueller) Brenner of 1194 South Park Avenue, Fond du Lac home on June 27, 2013. Helen was born November 7, 1928 in Windom, MN, the daughter of the late Dr. Gustave G. and Edith Schonberg Mueller of Princeton, WI. She graduated from Princeton High School in 1946, the valedictorian of her class. She then went to school at Milwaukee Downer, which later became UW Milwaukee and the University of Wisconsin in Madison, where she majored in Home Economics & Child Education. Helen taught kindergarten in Stoughton, WI for four years. On March 9, 1955 Helen married David H. Brenner of Fond du Lac at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Princeton, WI and went to Bermuda on their honeymoon. After she came to Fond du Lac she taught kindergarten at Elizabeth Waters Elementary School for four years. Helen retired from teaching in December of 1957 to become a mother and homemaker. Helen was a long time member of Pilgrim United Church of Christ.Helen had a great love of classical music and was a concert pianist. She was in many competitions playing the grand piano throughout the state as well as in Chicago. Helen loved animals, she and her husband had several special Golden Retrievers and cats as pets. She traveled extensively with her husband and family. She enjoyed spending time at the family cottage at Green Lake, big family gatherings and to entertain friends. She also loved to cook and sew. She is survived by one son, Mark H. Brenner, Fond du Lac; two daughters, Susan E. (Scott Romig) Brenner, Scottsdale, AZ and Gail A. (Dan Vandenack) Brenner, Fond du Lac; one grandson, Brett M. Bartell, of Scottsdale, AZ. She is further survived by her brothers, Dr. Gustave (Sara) Mueller, Green Lake, WI, Dr. Robert Mueller, Chapel Hill, NC; her brothers-in-law, John (Tina) Brenner, Fond du Lac, Theodore P. (Pat) Brenner, Marinette, WI, Dr. Robert Shapiro, Onalaska; many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her father and mother-in-law, Theodore P. and Gladys Brenner, Sr.; her husband of 55 years, David; a sister, Nancy Mariani; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Shapiro and Marion Mueller; her favorite aunt, Viola Callin and favorite uncle, Frank Schonberg.



The visitation will be held from 10:00 "“ 11:30 AM on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Pilgrim United Church of Christ. The Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 535 Stow Street, Fond du Lac. Entombment will follow in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Pilgrim UCC or the Fond du Lac Humane Society in Helen's name.The family would like to thank the care givers, Becky, Amy, Jessica, Dani, Erica, Stephany, Kathy, Kim, Bethany and others who took care of Helen during the last eight years of her life when she had Alzheimer's.
