Hermina "Ike" Rothgery

Hermina "Ike" (Eichhorst) Rothgery, 87, of Fond du Lac, died on April 10,2007. She was born in Essen, Germany on April 14, 1919, and immigrated to the United States in 1925. She graduated from Chilton, Wisconsin, High School, in 1937, and the St Agnes Hospital School of Nursing in Fond du Lac in 1940. She met Carlton Rothgery when he was a patient in St. Agnes Hospital in 1941, and they married on February 16, 1943, in Lansing, Michigan.After World War II, Ike and Carl lived in Chicago and Park Forest, Illinois. In 1957, they moved to Napoleon, Ohio. She retired as a School Nurse for the Napoleon School District in 1978. They moved to New Holstein, Wisconsin in 1978, and to Fond du Lac in 1999.Ike is remembered for her devotion to her children and to her husband. She enjoyed oil painting, ceramic artwork, baking, letter writing, seashell artwork, professional sports, and knitting. After their retirement, Carl and Ike traveled to Florida for 14 winters, Germany, and Hawaii. They also frequently visited their children in Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, and Michigan.Ike is survived by her husband of 64 years, Carlton; sons: Michael (Dorothy) of Detroit, Michigan, Patrick (Becky) of Wauseon, Ohio, and Jeffrey of Royal Oak, Michigan; granddaughters: Emilie Rothgery of Detroit, Raelee Rothgery of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Katherine (Jay) Fandrey of Columbus, Ohio; and great-grandchildren Madeline, John, and Brittany Fandrey. She was preceded in death by her parents: Max Sr. and Bertha (Leopold) Eichhorst, and her siblings: Max Jr., Heinz, and Karl Eichhorst, and Bertha Geiser. She was a member of Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac, and a Life Member of the St. Agnes Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association.



Her funeral will be at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home Chapel on Saturday, April 14, Pastor Douglas Hedman, officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The service will be at 1 p.m. Committal will be at 3:15 p.m. at the Hillside Cemetery in Chilton. Memorials to Immanuel-Trinity would be appreciated.
