Jesse Shannon Tier Ii

June 23, 1942 — October 1, 2016

Jesse Shannon Tier II, age 74, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, October 1, 2016 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born on June 23, 1942 in Chanute, KS, the son of Jesse Shannon and Hester Fae (Reece) Tier. Jesse graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Masters Degree in Industrial Psychology then attended Law School at Oklahoma University. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and achieved the rank of Captain. On January 19, 1985 he married MaryRuth G. Salazar-Tier in Denver. Jesse ran and set up cable television companies all over the country for many years, he was a City Manager in Eugene, OR, and managed Loveland Family Medicine in Loveland, CO. He was a wonderful husband and father.



Jesse was a lifelong Episcopalian. He was born and baptized in Kansas and raised in Oklahoma where he attended St. John’s Episcopal Church. For the past twenty years he served as a licensed Lay Eucharistic Minister and Lay Reader in three dioceses. He served as a lay visitor to shut-ins and took communion to an inmate at Taycheedah Correctional Facility. He continued his studies at the Iliff School of Theology in Denver, CO, and Nashotah House, Nashotah, WI. He was a founding member of St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church in Bella Vista, AR and in 1986 traveled with his wife on a medical missionary trip to Aguas Calientes, Mexico where over thirteen thousand people were given free medical treatment.



Survivors include his wife MaryRuth G. Salazar-Tier of Fond du Lac; three children, Julia (special friend Jonathan) Tier of Portland, OR, Kimberly (fiancé Rob) Schwinn of Fond du Lac, Andrew Tier of Fond du Lac; one sister, Kathryn (Donald) Tier Heath of Jacksonville, Fl; nieces and nephews, David West II, Travis Todd West, Shannon West DelVecchio, and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; close friends Ken and Barbara Schwinn.



Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, from 9-11 A.M. at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 51 W. Division St, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. Funeral Service will follow the visitation at 11:00 A.M. Cremation will follow the traditional services. American Legion Trier-Puddy Post #75 will conduct military honors at church.
