John A. Schmitz, age 74, of W7000 Voyager Dr, Fond du Lac, died Saturday, October 15, 2005 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. He was born on January 15, 1931 in Eldorado the son of John G. and Frances Casper Schmitz. He was a graduate of Rosendale High School. He married Delores on January 12, 1952 at St. Mary's Church in Fond du Lac. He was employed at Mercury Marine for forty-one years until taking early retirement in 1990 due to ill health. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant. He was a member of Presentation Church, North Fond du Lac, and a member of the Quarter Century Club with Mercury Marine. Through the years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting pool, playing cards, and especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren, and his great grandchild.SURVIVORS: his wife Delores of Fond du Lac, three sons, Michael Schmitz of Fond du Lac, Donald (Sue) Schmitz of Fond du Lac, Robert (Carie) Schmitz of Brandon, six grandchildren, Ann (Tim) Guy of Biloxi, MS, Laura Schmitz of Fond du Lac, Julie Schmitz of Fond du Lac, Ethan Schmitz ,Sawyer Schmitz and Dylan Schmitz all of Brandon, one great granddaughter Bryn Guy, one brother, Gustav (Monica) Schmitz of Fond du Lac, Virginia Kraus of North Fond du Lac. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister.



Private family services will be held at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park with the Reverend John Simon officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum. Memorials appreciated to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation in John's memory.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
