John L. Zeller

John L. Zeller, 81 of Fond du Lac died Sunday, February 26,2006 at his residence. John was born on July 2,1924 in Gibsonburg, Ohio the son of Carl W. and Leta Ottney Zeller. He served in the Army Air Corp in World War II in Italy for 18 months until the war ended. On August 11, 1945 he married Nola Yeasting in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Nola preceded him in death on December 28,1979. On October 9,1981 he married Carol A. Larson. John was a graduate of Michigan State University in 1948. John moved to Fond du Lac in 1958. He was manager of Fond du Lac Lumber Company joined Don Ahonen to form Sterling Custom Homes where he was vice president in charge of sales. Shortly after Sterling was sold to Wausau Homes, he became coordinator for the Fond du Lac Economic Authority retiring in 1989. John was a member of the Fond du Lac Sunriser's Kiwanis Club and served in Kiwanis as president and was a past Lt. Governor, he was a member of Fond du Lac Lodge No. 26 F. & A.M. where he was a past master and secretary, a member of Fond du Lac Shrine Club, Valley of Green Bay Scottish Rite, Beja Shrine Temple, Green Bay, Tripoli Shrine Temple, Milwaukee, Tall Cedar's of Lebanon, Fond du Lac Elks Lodge No. 57, Fond du Lac Eagles Aerie No.270, a life member of Trier-Puddy American Legion Post No.75, and a life member of the Fond du Lac Builder's Association. John served on the Fond du Lac City Council, Fond du Lac County Board, Toastmaster's, Fond du Lac Housing Authority, Brooke Industries, Easter Seals, and was an active member of Salem United Methodist Church, a Michigan State Alumni and a avid fan. John enjoyed playing golf, bowling, bridge and poker.SURVIVORS: wife Carol, Fond du Lac, son, John Charles "Chuck"(Karen) Zeller, Belleville, IL, daughter, Kathryn (Jaime) Malwitz, and Mary (Steven) Scott, both of Fond du Lac, step-children, Andy (Dar) Larson, Fond du Lac, Cindy (Joe) Thompson, Ormond Beach, FL, Laurel McDermott, Fond du Lac, Dan (Julie) Larson, Appleton, John (Jennifer) Larson, Fond du Lac, and Amy Mueller, Oshkosh, also survived by 24 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, two brothers, James (Loyola) Zeller, and David Zeller both of Gibsonburg, OH and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, a great-grandson Ethan Thomas Bonnell,



VISITATION: Thursday, March 2,2006 from 3:00 to 6:30 P.M. at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. There will be a Masonic Memorial Service at 6:30 P.M. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. FUNERAL: Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday March 3,2006 at Salem United Methodist Church. Reverend's David Byers-Dent and Anthony Farina will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum. Trier-Puddy American Legion Post No. 75 will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.Memorials appreciated to the Masonic Scholarship Foundation or Salem United Methodist Church.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
