John R. Blasnig

John R. Blasnig Jr, age 79, of Fond du Lac, died Friday, December 27, 2013 at ManorCare Health Services. He was born on November 16, 1934 in Neenah, the son of John and Dorothy (Jorgenson) Blasnig Sr. John worked at Kettle Moraine Correctional Facility for thirty years, retiring as Captain. On July 20, 1977 he married Judith (Mawbey) McLain in Fond du Lac. John was involved with the Fond du Lac Senior Center, Fond du Lac Evening Optimists, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #270. He enjoyed golf, pool league, bowling, fishing, going camping with friends, and always spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed attempting trivia and playing Yahtzee. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, and also enjoyed baseball, and basketball. He also formerly worked for Annie's on the Avenue and Miller's Pub. SURVIVORS: his wife Judy of Fond du Lac; five children, Carey (special friend Bobby) of Fond du Lac, Tracy (Rod) Mcpherson of Canada, Maria (Glenn) of Milwaukee, Nick of Milwaukee, Tony of Alabama; twenty-one grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; mother in law, Julie Pedrotty; two brothers in law, Mickey (Laura) Mawbey of WA, and William (Yvonne) Mawbey, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Mary Anita, two sons, Angelo and Mario.



VISITATION: Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 1-3 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac. Family and friends will share memories of John at 3:00 P.M.
