Judy Blasnig

On Monday August 17th at 11:08 AM our mom Judith Gail Blasnig (nee Mawbey) in her 75th year suddenly and sadly passed away.



How does one truly start a parents/loved one’s obituary? It’s one of the most important things you can do for someone that has passed away because it’s the final words about that person’s life. We hope we do our mom the justice and the honor she deserves. Here goes nothin.



“Judy, Judy, Judy” (spoken like Carey Grant), where do we start the chronicles of this women’s long and adventurous life? In 1944 on October 19th Judith Gail graced the world as the eldest child of Juliette and William Mawbey in Bronxville New York (betcha most of ya didn’t know that). The Mawbeys moved to Racine Wisconsin where they added two more beautiful boys Mickey and Billy. From Racine they moved to Fond du Lac Wi where mom attended Goodrich high school, it was here she would meet her 1st husband. Upon graduating she enrolled in the English program in Oshkosh (this totally explains way she was always the grammar queen) but young love would prevail and when Pat proposed she as we know said yes so she gave up her studies. They married in November of 1964 in Fond du Lac Wi . The newlyweds would begin a life of travel due to Pats enrolment in the US Navy in 1963. Over the course of the next 8 years or so many places, bases (naval of course) and suitcase were used by the McLains. During these travels, additions were made to the family, Tracy in 1966 and Carey in 1972 (totally mom’s favorite, brat) they finished their time in the Navy and returned to Fond du Lac to put down roots. It was here that life encountered some changes, Pat and Judy realized that their life as one was not what either of them hoped for and decided to part ways (they really tried). It was around this time that mom would meet her true “partner in crime” in one Mr. John Blasnig. This meeting would go onto create a large blended family of 9 (yep 9) when John brought his wonderful broad of 5 (4 lads and 1 beautiful lassie) along with him. They married on July 20th, 1977 and life began.



Mom loved, loved, loved people. She was a natural at helping someone, organizing something or supervising (she was really good at this) and she truly never seemed to be able to sit still for very long. At a camp site you’d find her making her famous tuna helper, making everyone clean up, getting ready to tube down the river with her tube and her mini cooler singing along with the group and howling at the mishaps that happened along the way. Or maybe at the Eagles (she was a member of the aerie #270 for many years) club egg hunt, taking total joy in watching the young ones find success when finding a hidden egg. Maybe at Walleye Weekend (totally her 3rd favorite time of all, next to Christmas and the most important day of all Packers opening kickoff) or one of her favorite watering holes watching the Brewers or the Packers. Maybe catching up with someone, no matter where it was mom was always the first to get you what you needed (even when you maybe didn’t really need it, lol). She once forced 4 of us to cram into a very small Ford Elite and drive across country to visit grandma to see all the wonderful sights along the way, needless to say we only did that once... but she sure loved the adventure , no matter what mom did her heart was always in the right place.



She spent many years working for Dr Buechel at his dental practice and when he retired she stayed on for many more years with Dr Kent Botsford. She truly loved each and every person she worked with as well as every patient that walked through their doors, many became lifelong friends.



Mom’s life wasn’t “perfect” but really who’s is? But it honestly was one she loved, one she was proud of and isn’t that really what really matters in life, making the perfect life for YOU? She loved hard, worked hard and boy oh boy she played hard. What more could you ask for!!



We do have a request to those of you that been able to continue reading this rather long obituary. This weekend, if your by a fire, in a quaint corner bar like they have in FDL or where ever you may be, please order or make a Brandy Old Fashion ( for anyone making the yucky face like Carey and I do, please feel free to drink something you like) and toast our mom Judith Gail Blasnig May she Rest In Peace. Those of you up there where she has gone to, watch out, she’s comin for ya to give you the dreaded “Fiddie Foe” ( mom thought this was the most hilarious thing to do to someone but man it hurt).



Mom will be sadly missed and survived by daughters Tracy (Rod) McPherson (Michael, Matthew and Rodney)Kitchener Ontario Canada, Carey (Marcus) McLain ( Cody McLain and Alexis Rogler), brothers Mickey (Laura) Mawbey Wenatchee WA, Bill (Yvonne) Mawbey Temecula CA, step-children Nick Blasnig ( Lacey Wellens, Audra and Brett Blasnig, daughter-in-law Terry) Milwaukee Wi, Tony (Mary) Blasnig ( Max and Nina Blasnig, daughter-in-law Jean Furman Blasnig) Kenosha Wi, Angelo Blasnig-preceded mom in death August 18th 1958 - July 1st 1998 ( Melissa, Justin and Marteka Blasnig, daughter in-laws Kris & Teresa), Mario Blasnig - preceded mom in death October 1959 - November 10th 1997, Maria Blasnig ( Dylan Vincent and Jackson Bishop) Kenosha Wi. Great-grandchildren Lilian, Avery and Cicely McPherson, Lola Bottomley, Braden McLain, Zoe and Jason Wanie, Moriah Blasnig, Maelynn Ana Maria Meyers, Brook and Bailee Blasnig, Aria and Jude Wellens.



Preceded in death by her soul mate John R Blasnig Nov 16th 1934 - Dec 27th 2013 (partners in crime united again to reek havoc), William T Mawbey August 7th 1915 - April 26th 1960, Juliette Pedrotty(Kressler) December 20th 1919 - August 7th 2016, Leo E Pedrotty November 21st 1917 - August 10th 2013.



She will also truly be missed by her friends of many, many years Ron (Butch) and Coralee Vincent and Frank and Judy Wix. Thanks for everything all of you did for both mom and dad over the years, you were truly great friends...



And please keep her beloved “devil” cat Holly (whom really thinks it’s a guard dog) in your thoughts. She and our mom were very close and she misses her dearly.



We would like to say a huge Thank You to Dr David Maruska and his staff for taking such good care of our mom through these years especially these past few..

And to Habor Haven Health and Rehabilitation who one more than occasion had mom as a rehab patient (I promise all of you will be sainted) and had to deal with daughters/grandson who often showed we were truly her children (wink, wink) we THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts....



As much as we would love to dress mom in her bestest outfit and have her favorite hairdresser Casey come and do her “do” the “Twilight Zone” time we are living in makes that impossible. So at her request she has been cremated and will be cared for until her final resting place has been fought over oops, we mean decided... we do hope you will keep you eyes out for a “Celebration Of Life” we WILL have at a later date (we are shooting for the 1st anniversary of her death or close to it) if you can attend we would all be honored...



In a nutshell, that’s our mom kinda crammed in a really long obituary. We hope we’ve done her justice in her final day. We know we’ve missed dates, names and events and for that we apologize.
