Ken Nelson

February 1, 1966 — February 4, 2021

Ken Nelson, age 55, of Rome, WI, passed away on February 4, 2021 at Wisconsin Rapids Health Center. He was born on February 1, 1966 in Chicago Heights, IL, the son of Richard and Mary Nelson. After spending his early years in Chicago Heights, Ken moved with his family to Greendale, WI. From there, he spent many years in St. Louis, MO and Rome, WI. He spent his winters in Bonita Springs, FL and was the happiest guy in the community.

Ken was a beautiful soul who left a trail of many friends in all communities. Every person he met became a new buddy, creating lifelong relationships. He made countless friends during his fifteen-year tenure at Lake Arrowhead Golf Course. With a constant smile on his face, Ken could always be found in the center of the dance floor. He sang his heart out, favoring the sounds of country music. Ken enjoyed his mother’s cookies and would always be sweet talking someone into sneaking him an extra soda.

Ken will be lovingly remembered by his father, Richard; three siblings, John (Deborah) Nelson of Fond du Lac, WI, Barbara (Eric) Swanson of Madison, WI, and Jerome (Sandra) Nelson of Eden Prairie, MN. Ken was an amazing uncle and will be greatly missed by his eleven nieces and nephews and seventeen great nieces and nephews. He is further survived by Aunt Beverly Hamilton and many loving cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary.

A Celebration of Life will be held this summer, with details to be shared at a later date.

The family would like to thank the Wisconsin Rapids Health Center for their excellent care of Ken.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to be sent in Ken’s honor to: Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin, 11709 W Cleveland, Suite 2, West Allis, WI 53227.
