Kenneth M. Koenig

August 16, 1948 — January 13, 2019

Kenneth M. Koenig, age 70, formerly of 215 Harrison St, North Fond du Lac, suddenly passed away at his residence. Kenneth was born on August 16, 1948, in West Bend Hospital, first of two children to Vera and Martin Koenig. Kenneth graduated from Horace Mann High School in North Fond du Lac in 1967. Shortly after Kenneth graduated, he enlisted in the Air Force and he served our country as a pneudraulics mechanic specialist. After basic training and schooling he was stationed in Grand Forks, North Dakota for one year right along with his brother Robert. In 1971, he deployed during the Vietnam War to Okinawa, Japan for one year. Kenneth had many occupations over the years but his true passion and love was being a truck driver and driving throughout the Fox Valley in his van. Kenneth’s love of driving started at the Kaukauna race track, where he was a regular with his yellow Super Bee. In his later years he built a trike from a Harley Servi Car with a VW motor on the back. Kenneth was well known for being seen on his trike enjoying the open road, he was lovingly known to his friends as Saddle Tramp.

As an outdoorsman, he enjoyed time away up north at the family cabin fishing and relaxing in Tipler, WI. He also loved hunting locally along the marsh, railroad tracks, and fence line for rabbits, game birds, or whatever else might be in season. He also firmly believed in the Right to Keep and Bear Arms to protect his family and country. He was a proud member of the NRA.

Kenneth is survived by his children, Mark (Christine) Koenig of Fond du Lac, WI, Shawn Koenig of Sheboygan, WI, Kennette (Timothy) Bant of Hackberry, LA; five grandchildren, Isaac Reffke and William Koenig of Fond du Lac, WI, Michael Daigle, Reilly, and Dakota Bant of Hackberry, LA. He is further survived by his fiancé Julie Hasby of North Fond du Lac, WI; brother, Robert (Karen) Koenig of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and special friends, Jay and Barb O’Neal of North Fond du Lac, WI. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera (McCartney) Koenig and Martin Koenig.
