LaVern R. EricksonLaVern R. Erickson, 78, formerly of 57 W. 12th Street, died Friday, November 18, 2005, at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home where he had been a resident for the past five years. LaVern suffered from Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Fond du Lac on December 30, 1926, a son of Hanford and Veronica Hilger Erickson. Lavern resided in Fond du Lac all his life, and was proud to have served his country with the US Navy during WW II. On June 26, 1948, he married Mabel L. Smith at St. Mary's Church in Fond du Lac. She preceded him in death on September 22, 2000. He was formerly employed by Mercury Marine and the City of Fond du Lac from which he retired in 1989.He is survived by four daughters, Barbara (Troy) Jones of Dowigiac, MI, Patricia (John) Jacobs and Donna (Gary) Burgess, both of Fond du Lac, and Debra (Nick) Lakin of Winona, MN, a son, James R. Erickson of Fond du Lac, 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, a sister, Mary Jo Brick of San Dimas, CA, two sisters-in-law, Leona Erickson of North Fond du Lac and Phyllis Erickson of Fond du Lac, and a brother-in-law, Joseph Smet of Fond du Lac, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. His parents, wife, three brothers, Hanford, Harold, and Clifford, three sisters, Darlene Petrich, Lorriane Smet, and Rosemarie Boda, a sister-in-law, Gerry Erickson, and three brothers-in-law, Hubert Petrich, Robert Boda, and Gene Brick preceded him in death.



Visitation for Mr. LaVern R. Erickson will be on Monday, November 21, 2005, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Liturgy of the Word services will be on Tuesday, November 22, 2005, at 2 pm at the funeral home. The Deacon Larry Hughes will officiate and entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes any memorials given in LaVern's names be directed to the Alzheimer Association.
