Laurina M. Schumacher

January 2, 1927 — March 15, 2017

Laurina M. Schumacher, 90, of Fond du Lac, died peacefully on March 15, 2017 with her family at her side. Laurina was born January 2, 1927 in Mt. Calvary to the late Edward and Anna (Schaefer) Kraus. She married Francis Schumacher on April 16, 1947. We celebrate her life as she joins her husband, Francis, who preceded her in death on December 23, 1970. With the help of her children, the family continued to farm for many years. We find comfort knowing that she will no longer be in pain and that she will be watching over her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren – all who brought her so much joy.

Laurina was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in St. Peter. She was a member of the St. Peter Altar and Rosary Society and was involved in making quilts for the missions. In addition, she made numerous special quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Mt. Calvary. Laurina assisted with the ARC and received an Appreciation Award for her efforts.

She is survived by her six children, Peter (Sue) of St. Peter, Carol (Paul) Wuerch of Montello, Wayne (Nancy) of Fond du Lac, Patsy (Dan) Sabel of Valders, Allan (Joyce) of Malone and Paula Schumacher of Fond du Lac; her dear friend Delmar Buechel of Chilton; eleven grandchildren, Mark (Staci) Schumacher, Dawn Wuerch, Brian (Amy) Wuerch, Adam (Sandy) Schumacher, Kelly (Brian) Schleif, Ron (Jess) Schumacher, Jeremy Schumacher, Ricky (fiancé Lindsey) Schumacher, April Sabel, Todd (special friend, Hannah) Sabel, and Heidi (special friend, Taylor) Sabel; eleven great-grandchildren, Audrey and Noah Schumacher, Kylie Lang, Hailey and Connor Wuerch, Harmony and Zachary Schumacher, Lakyn Schleif, and Kaylee, Jensen and Dexter Schumacher. She is also survived by her sisters, Rosemary Baus and Joanne Freund; and sisters-in-law, Betty Kraus, Marie Schumacher and Esther Schumacher. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Dawson Schumacher; her brothers, Benno and Melvin (Alma); her sister, Loretta (Leo) Morgan; in-laws, Jerome Baus and Wilmer Freund, Andrew, Paul (Edwina), Edward Schumacher, Aurelia (Oliver) Nett and Marie Buechel; and her father and mother-in-law, Edward and Julia Schumacher.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 17, 2017 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at St. Peter Catholic Church in St. Peter with visitation from10:00 AM until the time of Mass.
