Lawrence J. Eder

Lawrence J. Eder, 89, formerly of 400 N. Peters Avenue, died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at St. Francis Home where he had been a resident. He was born September 10, 1917, in Glidden, WI, the son of John B. and Mary Arnold Eder. On June 15, 1946, he married Ann Nicklewicz at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Stevens Point, WI. Mr. Eder was a member of Holy Family Parish-Sacred Heart Church, and a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #664. He and his wife formerly owned and operated the Little Sands Hotel for 16 years. He also was employed by Fred Rueping Leather Company for 12 years. Lawrence was a US Army veteran of WW II serving in both the European and Pacific Theaters. While in Europe, he served with the 3rd Armored Division under General George Patton. He was discharged as a Master Sergeant. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed playing Sheepshead with his friends at the Fond du Lac and North Fond du Lac Senior Centers.Surviving is his wife, Ann, a son, Gabriel (Marilyn "Lyn") Eder of Elk Grove, CA, a daughter, Carol (Dennis) Laufenberg of Phoenix, two granddaughters, Genevieve Langley and Nicole Laufenberg, a grandson, John Eder, two great-grandsons, Loen and Caleb Langley, and a sister, Florence Wiedenhoeft of Las Vegas. His parents, a brother, Thomas, and three sisters, Agnes Klismet, Evelyn Trelka, and Gladys Bauschaud preceded him in death.



Visitation for Mr. Lawrence J. Eder will be on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 from 11 to 2 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and from 3 to 4 pm at Sacred Heart Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 4 pm at the church on Wednesday. The Rev. Patrick Heppe will officiate and entombment will be on Thursday morning at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
