Louise P. Stewart

December 30, 1916 — July 20, 2006

Louise P. Stewart, age 89, formerly of Neenah, and currently a resident of Oak Ridge Gardens, Menasha, died Thursday, July 20, 2006. She was born on December 30, 1916 in Postville, Iowa the daughter of Henry K. and Hanna Gilbertson Peterson. On January 22, 1944 she married Gordon A. Stewart in Clermont, IA. He preceded her in death on February 21, 1996. Louise graduated from Clermont High School where she was her class valedictorian. She received a degree in primary education from Luther College in Decorah, IA in 1938. She taught third grade in Maynard, IA. She then worked in communications and dispatch for United Airlines in Chicago until meeting her husband and moving to Canada in the late 1940's. Prior to moving to Canada they lived in Washington D.C. where her husband was stationed with the Navy, where she was a professional seamstress. They then moved to Sylacauga, Alabama were Dave and Mary were born, living there until 1961 and then moved to Neenah, WI. In Neenah Louise was very active at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and sewed many vestments, banners, and robes, for the congregation and the clergy. Louise loved to cook, sew, and she loved golf. She started playing golf at age forty and had a hole-in-one her first year. She also won many golf tournaments. SURVIVORS: her son, David (fiancé Debbie Kimpel) Stewart of Fond du Lac, her daughter, Mary Stewart of Neenah, one grandson, Derek Kessler of Neenah, one sister, Iva (Don) Martindale of Oelwein, IA, and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gordon, her brother, Clarence Peterson, two sisters, Pearl Peterson and Ruth Larson.



VISITATION: Sunday, July 23, 2006 from 3-6 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. FUNERAL: Funeral Services will be held at East Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont, IA and burial will take place at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
