Marie Anne (Kuharski) Kuhnz, 88, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, November 28, 2013, at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born May 3, 1925, in Green Lake County, the daughter of Frank and Rose Bednarek Kuharski. Marie was a 1939 graduate of St. Mary's Grade School, and later graduated from Fond du Lac Senior High School in 1943. She received her Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1947. On June 19, 1948, she was married to Richard H. Kuhnz by the late Rev. Robert Kircher. Marie taught Kindergarten and Primary grades in Appleton and Fond du Lac and did substitute teaching in Green Bay. She loved line dancing, playing the piano, and writing short stories. She was a member of Holy Family Parish-St. Mary's Church and its Hope Choir and Altar Society, was a guide at the Galloway House, and a member of the Fond du Lac Senior Center. Marie also was a member of the Linettes and Memory Writing class, a past Senior Counselor of the UCT Auxiliary, and member of TPU (Taylor Park University). Surviving is her husband of 65 years, Richard, two daughters, Kaye (Ray) Zeller of Fond du Lac, and Connie (David Swirnoff) Kuhnz of Minneapolis, MN, a son, Bradley (Nancy) Kuhnz of Wyoming, MN, five grandchildren, Damian (Jolene)Cady, Adam (Julie) Cady, Nichole (Craig) Otto,Steven (Jessica) Kuhnz, Annie Rose Swirnoff, and seven great-grandchildren. A brother in law Robert (Nancy) Kuhnz of Fond du Lac. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Kenneth Kuharski in 1978 and Chester Kuharski in 2002, three brothers-in-law, Robert Willie, Lyle Kuhnz, and William Kuhnz, four sisters-in-law, Betty Kuhnz, Sylvia Kuhnz,Blanche Kuhnz, and Evie Willie, and her father and mother-in-law, Ervin and Lillian Kuhnz.
Visitation for Marie Anne Kuhnz will be on Monday, December 2, 2013, from 4 to 7 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and again on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, from 9 to 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, 93 Marquette Street, Fond du Lac. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM on Tuesday at the church. Entombment will be in the Chapel of The Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.
