Mary Averbeck

March 24, 1920 — March 30, 2015

Mary Averbeck, 95, a resident of Fond du Lac passed away Monday, March 30, 2015 at home. She was born March 24, 1920 in Boyd, Wisconsin. Her parents were Harvey and Anna Milling. She was raised by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Milling. Mary attended Boyd High School, graduating first in her class. She attended U.W. Madison for two years as a journalism major on a scholarship. Prior to marriage, she worked as a bookkeeper for the Ely Company in Fond du Lac. On October 2, 1943 she married Forrest W. Averbeck at Salem Church in Fond du Lac with Rev. Herbert Zebarth officiating. Her special hobbies, which she shared with everyone, included cooking, baking, gardening, and growing spectacular roses.



She is survived by one daughter, Maxine. She was preceded in death by her husband, grandparents, and a brother who was killed in World War II.



At Mary’s request there will be no visitation or services. Cremation has taken place and her remains will be kept in the special veterans section of the All Faiths Chapel Mausoleum at Rienzi Cemetery with her husband.



Special thanks to Agnesian Hospice Home nurses, the staff at St. Agnes Hospital, and the Lutheran Home for their care, help and compassion. Also a special thanks to some special friends who helped in her hour of need, namely, the Seibel’s, Milt Schave, the Tollefson’s, the Farina’s, the Phlums and our other fine neighbors.
