Mary E. Ditter

Mary E. Ditter, age 88, of Malone, died peacefully Saturday, July 22, 2017 at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac. She was born on May 15, 1929 in Ellis, WI, the daughter of Clements and Gertrude (Doyle) Steffanus. On May 15, 1954 she married Leander Ditter in Stevens Point. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2001. Mary graduated as a Registered Nurse from St. Agnes School of Nursing in1951. She worked as a surgical nurse at St. Agnes Hospital for many years while also working with Leander on their successful dairy farm for nineteen years near Malone. After retiring, she was very involved with Master Gardeners and loved her own garden. She enjoyed going to lunch with her many nursing friends, and going for walks with friends and neighbors. Mary was always interested in people especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading and puzzles and was a member of Holy Family Parish.



Survivors include four children: Jeanne Ditter of North East, MD, Christine (Patrick) Primising of Fond du Lac, Ellen (Michael) Wirtz of Malone, John (Christine) Ditter of Albuquerque, NM; four grandchildren, Amy Wirtz, Jacob (Ayantu) Wirtz, Megan (Adam) Stikl, and John Primising; one great grandson, Theo. She is also survived by her siblings, Norman (Janet) Steffanus, Diane (Bruce) Thompson, Lee (Connie) Steffanus; sisters-in-law, Jane (Martin) Kraus, and Mary Grace Stenz; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leander; one infant son; two sisters, Lorraine (Hillary) Welp and Gertrude Steffanus; and one brother, Richard Steffanus; one brother-in-law, Leander Stenz.



Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 2-5 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. A funeral service will follow at 5:00 PM at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the traditional services. Interment will take place at a later date at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery, Fond du Lac, WI.



In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
